What you need to know to come on Sunday.
If it's your first time, the practical stuff matters. Here are the essentials, in plain language.
When
Sunday worship begins at 11:00 AM. Most folks arrive a few minutes early to say hello.
Where
The church building at #1 God's Road in McGrath. If you're new in town, anyone can point you our way.
What to wear
Come as you are — Carhartts, flannels, dresses, kids' snow gear. Rural Alaska, not Sunday best.
Kids
Children are welcome in the service — wiggles, snacks, and noise included. Families fit here.
A small church in a small town, glad you found us.
McGrath is small, the winters are long, and our church gathers anyway — week after week, year after year — to read the Scriptures, sing, pray, and trust that Jesus is enough. If you're passing through, snowed in, or putting down roots, we'd love to meet you.

Coming for the first time?
A few things that may help:
- You will not be asked to stand up or introduce yourself.
- Coffee is usually on. Take a cup.
- Service runs about an hour, give or take.
- Ask anything — there are no embarrassing questions.
What a Sunday looks like.
Services are simple and unhurried: Scripture read aloud, singing together, prayer, and a sermon teaching from the Bible.
-
Gathering & Singing
We open with a few hymns and worship songs — usually familiar, sometimes new.
-
Scripture & Prayer
We read from the Bible aloud and pray for each other and the community of McGrath.
-
Teaching
A sermon walks through a passage of Scripture, working to apply it honestly to ordinary life.
-
Coffee & Conversation
Most weeks people stick around to talk. No rush.
What's happening this season.

A community of believers in McGrath.
McGrath Community Church is a small congregation in McGrath, Alaska — a village of a few hundred people on the Kuskokwim River, off the road system. We gather each week to worship Jesus, study Scripture, pray, and care for one another and our neighbors.
Our identity is plain: ordinary Christians, in an ordinary place, trying to follow Jesus faithfully through every season of the year.
Teaching from the Bible, week after week.
Past sermons and a written statement of doctrine are maintained from the church's current site. We'll keep linking to them here.
